Local professional golfer John Ellis will be playing in this year’s U.S. Open, which will be be held June 12-15 at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego.
A graduate of Live Oak High School and Gavilan College before attending the University of Oregon, Ellis has seen his play improve dramatically in the last year. Ellis recently won back-to-back events on the Canadian Tour.
He gained entry to the U.S. Open by shooting a 4-under-par 140 over two rounds Monday at Lake Merced Golf Club in Daly City.
