Dear Editor,
Well folks, are you sick and tired of seeing gasoline prices go
up and up and up with no apparent end in sight? What will $7 per
gallon do to your vacation plans, job commute, and cost of food and
clothing?
Thank the radical environmentalists who have leveraged our
elected officials (mainly Democrats) to continue to vote
”
NO
”
on new oil and gas drilling ventures in Alaska and the Gulf of
Mexico. Both Alaska and the Gulf contain billions of barrels of
petroleum resources, but American oil corporations are hamstrung to
do anything thanks to the political liberals.
Anyone sick of rising gas prices? Well, blame the liberal politicians
Dear Editor,
Well folks, are you sick and tired of seeing gasoline prices go up and up and up with no apparent end in sight? What will $7 per gallon do to your vacation plans, job commute, and cost of food and clothing?
Thank the radical environmentalists who have leveraged our elected officials (mainly Democrats) to continue to vote “NO” on new oil and gas drilling ventures in Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico. Both Alaska and the Gulf contain billions of barrels of petroleum resources, but American oil corporations are hamstrung to do anything thanks to the political liberals.
And thank the environmentalists for stopping the building of new nuclear power plants, too. The fact remains that the American consumer will continue to pay “until it hurts even more” while the Democrats in Congress answer us with lofty platitudes and excuses for inaction.
When will the silent majority do something to stop this political insanity as our leaders continue tochoke our own economic throats?

Appreciates story on Gilroy youth posting crime videos on YouTube
Dear Editor,
Thank you to the Dispatch for your informative story on youth crime videos.
It’s sad to see Hispanic children practicing the most ridiculous acts. Being a Hispanic, it is embarrassing to me the shameless things these kids do! Parents get control!!!

‘Don’t Dismount?’ What happened to the ‘mail must get through?’
Dear Editor,
“Do not dismount.” That’s the order from the Gilroy postmaster, so if a car or trash can blocks your mailbox, don’t plan on getting a delivery.
Unless the city paints the curb red, the homeowner has no control over who parks in front of their mailbox. Whatever happened to “the mail must get through?” Why can’t the delivery person get out of his or her truck and hand carry the mail to the box? What does a personally stamped envelope or postcard mean? The post office reserves the right to raise postage rates yearly. What right does a citizen have regarding complete delivery?

Solution to skyrocketing energy prices well within country’s grasp
Dear Editor,
Oil and gas prices are too high! It’s because of the war in Iraq! Tensions with Iran and the West Bank are causing panic in the markets! It’s because of the falling dollar! We need to use less energy! It’s because China and India are now using more oil! The world’s demand for oil is more than what’s available!
While all of the above factors contribute to the skyrocketing prices for oil and gas they are not the “primary” cause of the surging prices. The following “primary-root” problems reveal why the present outrageous surge in energy prices could have been avoided.
n There is no shortage of oil. The ambassador from Saudi Arabia so stated. OPEC oil producing nations refuse to put more oil on the market and refuse to build facilities to pull more oil out of the ground for market distribution. The reason? Because putting more oil on the market will only result in lower prices for their oil – that’s what monopolies are all about.
n There is no shortage of gasoline. A refinery executive, when asked why they closed down their refinery (even after another company offered them $31 million for it), said “that it does not benefit us to put more gasoline on the market”…meaning, if they put more gasoline on the market, the price will go down. In 1976 there were 324 refineries in America. Today there are only 148.
The United States has an enormous supply of oil in the mainland, in Alaska at the ANWR location, offshore and from a number of “friendly” oil providing nations.
n The oil solution: 1. Drill for our own oil. 2. Build a system of power generating dams. This will help provide citizens and farming with much needed water and, at the same time, reduce the amount of water running into the ocean. 3. Build safe nuclear power plants. The environmentalists have legitimate concerns at times, but also hold a view of the world that’s completely out of perspective. They need to be backed down.
n Gasoline solution: Increase the capacity of our refineries to not only meet our demand but also to cover production closures. This will avoid closures resulting in speculators running up the price.
By increasing our own energy supply by just 20 percent, exorbitant oil prices collapse. We must elect a president who’s not obliged to oil money and give him executive authority to: l. Mandate that we drill, build dams and nuclear plants and require that our own oil goes first to meet U.S. demand. 2. Mandate that the refinery industry build a sufficient capacity to cover interruptions for reasons like storms and maintenance.
This should be done on the basis that oil and gasoline are vital to the United States – it’s a worthy reason for executing such an authority. this.
