It’s been a hairy situation at Rabobank’s Gilroy branch lately as three employees stepped up to help women battling cancer.
Tammy McCormick and Vanessa Reynaga, branch operations specialists, along with Deanna Franklin, community banking manager, teamed up with local stylist Lisa Canali to donate 30 inches of hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, a program created to bring people together to share their strength and donate their beautiful, healthy hair to create free wigs for women who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment.
Canali, who owns Strandz Salon in Gilroy, cut nine inches off McCormick’s hair, 11 inches from Reynaga’s and 10 inches from Franklin’s to donate to the program. It takes six ponytails to make one of the magnificent Pantene Beautiful Lengths wigs.
The Rabobank employees decided to go on their hair-raising adventure as part of the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life activities in Gilroy on June 7.
The seven-employee Rabobank branch raised more than $3,000 in the Relay for Life and the three women who cut their hair inspired 6-year-old Gilroy resident Brenn Carlson to do the same as she cut 10 inches off her locks and gave it to the employees to donate with their ponytails.
