To earn their spot in Cooperstown, the Mustangs won two tournaments over the course of the 2008 travel club season and finished in second place three times. On July 12-13, the Mustangs earned their second tournament title by beating a team from Seaside 11-2 in the Miken Sports Tournament final in Salinas. The prior weekend, at the Monterey Bay Baseball Beat the Heat Tournament, Silicon Valley took second place, falling to a very tough challenger in the Central Valley Heat.

In April, the Mustangs won the A thru Z @ Twin Creeks Tournament. The team’s last win before that took place in the fall of 2007 at the Triple Crown Sports Tournament in Paso Robles. The team took time off for players to be involved in other sports through the winter, and resumed playing competitively in March of this year.

Silicon Valley will be playing games Sunday through Wednesday. If the Mustangs do well enough, the team would advance to a final on Thursday. For being a part of the tournament, all players will be inducted into the American Youth Baseball Hall of Fame.
