Thursday, April 10
Westside Grill rallied past New Hope Community Church 17-10 Thursday to move to 3-0 in Men’s E League play at Christmas Hill Park.
The Grillers turned an 8-5 deficit into a 16-8 lead by pushing across 11 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Alex Vega sparked the Westside fifth with a base-loaded triple. Jose Rodriguez added two doubles, Rick Gonzalez a double and single in the rally.
Matt Galindo and Nick Casares each went 3-for-3 for the winners. Matt Elam homered and Rudy Rodriguez and Larry Reimal each posted a pair of RBI-singles for 2-2 New Hope.
Walton & Sons Masonry is 4-0 in E action after a 22-17 verdict over Chippendale’s in eight innings.
Jason Mesa stroked a lead-off home run as Walton & Sons scored eight runs in the top of the eighth. Tyler Maslanka homered and Marc Vegas and Mesa each collected four hits for the league leader. Jason Kearns, Paul Bianchi and Kevin Giordanengo each went 4-for-6 for Chippendale’s.
Heinzen Manufacturing struck for six runs in the top of the seventh to upset the Bomb Squad 15-12.
Trailing 12-11 with two out, Rudi Groppe clubbed a two-run triple for a 13-12 edge for Heinzen. Manny Freitas followed with a two-run home run.
John Jimenez hit two home runs and Randy Garcia delivered three hits for the winners. Ryan Bell went 3-for-4 and Oscar Robles homered for Bomb Squad.
The Claddagh Brew Crew reached 3-0 atop the Men’s EE League Thursday at Las Animas Park with a 16-4 decision over the Borrachos.
Randy Russo lined a two-run double to help Claddagh to seven runs in the second inning. Joey Hoiberg helped the Crew with a three-run triple. Mike Keith scored three Claddagh runs.
Mark Cisneros and Mando Uribe each delivered a two-run home run for the Borrachos.
Brian Stelling went 4-for-4, Joe Balanesi 3-for-3 to lead the Good Ole Boys past Team Beefy 14-12. Nate Mah homered and Dominic Pirozzoli went 3-for-3 for Team Beefy.
Jay Avila plated eight runs with four homers in a 33-5 VFW Bingo win over ConAgra. Mike Navarez homered in a five-hit effort. Mario Pineda doubled and singled for ConAgra.
Wednesday, April 9
Harvey’s Body Shop outlasted Blackout Window Tinting 16-12 Wednesday to move to 2-0 atop the four-team Men’s CC League standings at Las Animas Park.
Harvey’s erased an 11-1 deficit with an 11-run outburst in the fifth inning. Alex Rodriguez stroked a pair of singles and scored twice to key the rally. Dave Cano hit a two-run single. Rich West provided a two-run single as Harvey’s added four runs in the sixth.
Rhino Souza went 3-for-4 for Harvey’s. Jason Corral went 3-for-3, Chris Velador 3-for-4 for Blackout.
Pizza N’ Stuff defeated the Platinum Roofing Slammers 19-7 to leave both clubs at 1-1.
Mark Mears powered Pizza N’ Stuff with a two-run home run, two-run double and RBI-single. Jarod Racz added two doubles and a single, plating three runs. Scott Galates homered and added a sacrifice fly for the Slammers.
Draeger Construction is 2-0 in Women’s League action after a 19-2 nod over Ms. BeHaving Wednesday at Christmas Hill Park.
Debbie Cupp went 4-for-4 and Liz Talavera bombed three doubles and a single for Draeger. Brea Vasquez added four hits and drove in four runs. Chrissy Ivory hit a run-scoring double and Julie Wheeler went 2-for-3 for Ms. BeHaving.
The Mean Girlz also reached 2-0 with a 24-2 win over T&H Pools. Elena Garcia hit two home runs in a 6-for-6 night. D. J. Simpson recorded five hits. Kaile Pierce and Marissa Montes hit run-scoring extra-base hits for T&H Pools.
Goldsmith topped Garza Sisters & Friends 16-2 behind a nine-run second inning. Dora Olivares and Yolanda Lomas each lined two singles in the second stanza. Michelle Schaefer went 3-for-3 for the winners. Melanie Mikeska, Kia Bravo and Anita Garza each powered two Garza Sisters hits.
The Players are 3-0 after a 16-9 win over 2-1 Titans Tuesday in Men’s DD play at Las Animas.
Joe Ojeda homered and Danny Granados roped a double and two singles for the Players. Jim Lazarus and Jim Reimer each tripled for the Titans.
Wicked is 2-1 after a 22-19 decision over Trevino Brothers Construction. Steve Christian went 4-for-4 and Brian Fialkosky homered in a 4-hit effort for Wicked. Armando Hernandez and Eloy Ortiz each were good for four Wicked hits. Mike Leslie hit a home run, double and single for Trevino Brothers. Mark Guajardo went 4-for-5.
Feather Haven Feeds earned a forfeit win over Pacific Coast Bail Bonds.
Monday, April 7
Pro Electric snapped a two-game Men’s C League losing streak Monday by rallying past DS Builders 14-13 at Las Animas Park.
The teams battled to a 7-7 tie after fourth innings, then 10-10 after six. Kurt Simmons gave DS Builders an 11-10 edge in the top of the seventh with a sacrifice fly. Kyle Kretz lined a two-run home run for a three-run cushion.
Consecutive hits to open the Pro Electric seventh by Lionel Ortiz, Mike Sandoval, Rosendo Acevedo and Anthony Elizondo produced a 13-13 tie. David Sabala earned the win with an bases-loaded RBI-single.
Acevedo, Elizondo and Julian Castaneda hit Electric home runs. Kurtis Salter added a solo shot for the Builders.
Los Gigantes reached 3-0 atop the C League with a 23-6 nod over Malibu Freezze.
Jeremy Page bolstered the Gigantes attack with a home run and three doubles, plating five runs. Noe DeLaTorre homered and David Solis scored four runs for the winners. Brent Boyd went 4-for-4 and Josh Torres singled, doubled and tripled for 2-1 Malibu.
The Dirty Dozen took sole possession of the Men’s CCC League with a 7-6 squeaker in eight innings over Tax Systems Monday at Las Animas.
Singles from Ruben Lujan, Daniel Salinas and Adam Cleveland produced the deciding run in the eighth. Michael Garcia and Lujan each earned three hits for the 3-0 winners. Steve Jaquez hit a two-run single and Carlos Sandoval scored twice for Tax Systems.
Johnson Lumber erased a 5-1 deficit after three innings to stop Bracco’s Towing 15-11.
Daniel Caspary poked a two-run homer in a three-hit showing for Johnson Lumber. Jose Hernandez and Jerrod Hernandez each added three hits for the winners.
Danny Rubalcava led 2-1 Bracco’s with a triple and single. Steve Huerta drove in three Towing runs with a pair of singles.
Dennis Barroza stroked an RBI-single in the bottom of the final inning to lift the Desperados past the Hit Men 11-10.
Justin Barroza hit a three-run home run and Dean Filice lined two doubles to key the Desperados offense. Mike McIntire hit a two-run single to spark a nine-run fourth frame for the Hit Men.
Just Drink It trimmed Lozano’s Let Me Hit It 12-10 behind two home runs from Jess Lopez Jr. Steve Aguirre provided three doubles and Dave Meacham singled, doubled and tripled for the winners. Anthony Gonzalez and Luis Bobadilla each collected three singles for Lozano’s.
