BOYS SOCCER: Mustangs edge Yerba Buena, 1-0

A first-half goal from senior Jonathan Diaz De Leon held as the game winner in a 1-0 victory for the Gilroy High boys soccer team over Yerba Buena on Tuesday night in Gilroy.

Diaz De Leon’s second tally of the season came off of a penalty shot. Goalies Angel Cruz and Carlos Jimenez combined to record the Mustangs’ first shutout of the season.

Gilroy (2-1) hosts crosstown foe Christopher on Friday night at 7 p.m. The Mustangs won last seaon’s encounter 3-0.
