The Gilroy High baseball did its part to stay in contention in an up-for-grabs Tri-County Athletic League on Thursday, defeating Alvarez 12-2 in Salinas.
Brendon Holler moved to 2-0 in TCAL play, tossing a five-hit, two-run effort, striking out five Eagles along the way.

“(Vegas) is swinging a hot bat right now,” manager Johnny Ramirez said.
The Mustangs began the week with a 10-5 loss to Palma, its first game in a week after their slate was washed away by rain last week.
“We have a little rust on us right now,” Ramirez said.
GHS is 8-3-1 overall and 5-2-1 in league.
The Mustangs host the Eagles in a Friday afternoon tilt slated for a 4 p.m. start at GHS.
