One man was arrested and another is sought by Morgan Hill police in connection to separate drug-related incidents, police said.

The first arrest happened about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, when officers on patrol stopped a green 1994 Chevy Camaro without a rear license plate near Tennant Avenue and Butterfield Boulevard, according to Morgan Hill police Sgt. Jerry Neumayer. Police determined the driver, Salvador Samaripa, 36 of San Jose, was on active state parole for a carjacking conviction.

Searching the vehicle, police found more than 30 grams of what they think is methamphetamine, as well as some Vicodin pain pills, Neumayer said.

Samaripa was arrested and booked into county jail on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale, being under the influence of a controlled substance and a parole violation, Neumayer said.

In an unrelated incident, police are still seeking a Morgan Hill man they attempted to contact later that morning on a report of suspicious activity.

About 10 a.m. Saturday police were dispatched to a residence on the 600 block of Barrett Avenue, Neumayer said. Officers heard that a parolee at large, David Saldana, 34 of Morgan Hill, was at the home. When police arrived, they discovered that Saldana had fled the area on foot before officers’ arrival.

Police searched the residence, and found more than 58 grams of marijuana, more than seven ounces of alleged methamphetamine, scales, a police scanner and several pieces of stereo equipment, police said. The items were all associated with Saldana, who is on parole for burglary.

Detectives are investigating whether or not any of the stereo equipment found at Saldana’s residence was reported stolen, Neumayer said.

Saldana is still outstanding. He is described as a Hispanic male adult, about five-feet eight-inches tall and 200 pounds.

Anyone with additional information about Saldana’s whereabouts may call Morgan Hill police at (408) 779-2101, or the anonymous tip line at (408) 947-7867.
