Dear Editor,

I’m reading the letter from Gilroy Little League President Jeff Sosa published in Tuesday’s Dispatch in total disbelief – our local Little League saving “thousands of dollars” by buying uniforms out of town? Really?

California Silkscreening is my family’s company and we have been providing uniforms for local teams for more than 20 years. We always delivered the uniforms on time, sometimes working late nights and weekends to get the jerseys to all the players on the due date. If one child received the wrong size, no problem, we would fix it.

Does that happen now? No, the parents are told they must pay for a new uniform themselves and get the local business sponsor put on the jersey – and of course it’s not the parent’s fault their child received the wrong size.

At California Silkscreening, we would help with whatever issues came up, always going above and beyond to assist Gilroy Little League and its players.

The honest question for Little League now is why weren’t the local silkscreening businesses given a chance to bid? Next thing you know the Gilroy Little League is going to have the uniforms coming in from China to save a buck. We need to stick together as a community and support local businesses. Otherwise, how can we survive in these difficult economic times with local organizations sending Gilroy money out of town?

It is called GILROY LITTLE LEAGUE, NOT SAN LEANDRO LITTLE LEAGUE. At California Silkscreening, we are willing to match any price. I think the Little League parents deserve to know the truth. I love Little League having played in Gilroy since I was 6 years old. I think it is a wonderful opportunity for the kids. We need to set an example for them by supporting each other. Going out of town to buy uniforms is not leading by example.
