Film Class for Seniors 55 and Older

Morgan Hill – Adults 55 and older can participate in a free class/film series through the Gavilan College Department of Noncredit Instruction.

Humanities 767, “Film Classics” is designed to study the facts, fantasy, history and trivia of classic and modern films.

The background and history of each film and its performance will be compared and contrasted. Films will be screened at Morgan Hill Community Playhouse from 2 to 5pm Wednesday afternoons through Dec. 5.

Little League Needs Volunteers

Gilroy – The 2008 Little League season is right around the corner. Join the dedicated team of volunteers who run the Gilroy Little League. The board of directors will meet at 7pm, Thursday. Meeting will be held at the Las Animas Park Recreation Room.

Gilroy – Treat your palate to delectable food and award winning wines at the Third Annual Gilroy Art & Wine Festival, from 11am to 6pm, Saturday, in downtown Gilroy. Admission and parking is free. Presented by the City of Gilroy Community Services, Gilroy Downtown Business Association and Gilroy Visitors Bureau, this event showcases Santa Clara County Wineries. In addition, festival attendees can view the Gilroy Arts & Culture exhibit and the Young Artists Show at the historic Willey Cultural Center.

SV Symphony Kicks Off

Gilroy – The South Valley Symphony’s 34th season of classical and contemporary music, kicks off with the first concert Romantic Masterworks, at 7:30pm, Saturday, at the Gavilan College Theater. Ticket prices are $20, $15, and $10.

SV Republican Barbecue

Morgan Hill – The South Valley Republican Women Federated and the Santa Clara County Republican Party invite local Republicans in South San Jose, Morgan Hill, San Martin and Gilroy to the 3rd annual “South Valley Republican BBQ” from 4 to 7pm Saturday, at 1961 Alpet Drive, Morgan Hill. This year’s featured speaker is former Assemblyman Dean Andal, candidate for U.S Congressional District 11. Cost is $15 per person, free for children younger than 13.

AARP Safe Driving Class

Morgan Hill – AARP holds free one-day refresher courses for drivers 50 years and older. Driver safety and new laws will be covered. There is a minimal fee for a three-year DMV certificate for discounts on auto insurance. AARP membership not required. The next meeting is Saturday in Morgan Hill.
