Why is the Police Blotter not published online? I moved away
from the area five years ago, but still have close ties to home. I
often read the news online and think the Police Blotter should be
included.
Where’s the police blotter?

Dear Cop Watcher: We agree, that’s why it is indeed posted online. Simply click on the “News” tab on the menu bar, then choose “Crime/Courts” and viola, more blotter than you can shake a billy club at.
Where did the cowboy giddyup to?
I am in downtown Gilroy most days and have always enjoyed the horse and rider that sits atop Ruby’s on the corner of 6th and Monterey Streets. However when I came back from vacation a couple of weeks ago I noticed it was missing! Did I miss something? Was it stolen? Sold? It is sad to look and not see it there.
& Red Phone
Dear Buckaroo: Casey Tibbs, is who you are thinking of, and his bucking bronc War Paint. “Casey may have gone home to the range,” said Joanne Hall, the wife of George Hall, who is selling the abandoned building at 7401 Monterey St. “Perhaps he’s getting dolled up, but that’s all I’m going to say.”
You can read the entire story we ran Aug. 22 by going to www.GilroyDispatch.com and entering “Casey Tibbs” in the search field at the top of home page. The headline reads: “Where Has the Cowboy Gone.”
Until then, happy trails, pardner.
Whadya hear about the cop crash?
Story I heard in a line at Kaiser. Well this girl was talking on her phone and she told a rare story.
A friend of hers was arrested for minor in possession ( don’t know of what) and had to be transported to San Jose for some reason and the PD car had a flat and rolled off the road.
Minor injuries. BUT… the chap sued the PD for a bundle and is now in the chips. Never a word to Gilroy about the whole thing, and it is their money.
& Red Phone
Dear Eavesdropper: First of all, Red Phone fully supports you listening to the girl’s conversation. When someone holds private conversations in public on cell phones (which is a branch of Red Phone’s family we just as soon forget), they have tacitly invited others to listen.
Next time, you should offer suggestions to the caller. Red Phone contacted Sgt. Jim Gillio, the public information officer at the Gilroy Police Department, and asked him about the rumor.
He said he had never heard of the incident, and one would think that an officer-involved traffic accident with injuries, regardless of how minor, would be reported to the PIO.
Another possibility is that it was another jurisdiction other than the GPD. It could have been a California Highway Patrol or a Santa Clara County Sheriff’s deputy.
All in all, yet another good reason never to get arrested – you never know if you’re being driven to jail by the one officer who flunked driver’s training.
