Police nabbed a wanted felon who had spent 477 days evading law enforcement.

About 3 p.m. Wednesday, police arrived at Quality Inn and Suites, 8430 Murray Ave., on a tip that 31-year-old Michael Salinas – wanted for being a parolee at large and possession of narcotics for sale – was inside a rented room. Police made contact with Salinas, a transient who stands 5-foot-5-inches tall and weighs 150 pounds, but he refused to come out of the room.

Police then busted into the room and asked Salinas to cooperate, but he and 25-year-old Valerie Yvette Isais of Morgan Hill, who was in the room with him, physically resisted officers’ directions.

Police then used an electronic stun gun and pepper spray to subdue Salinas and take him into custody.

They also managed to subdue Isais and take her into custody.

No officers were hurt during the arrest.

When officers searched the room, they found a handgun and ammunition. However, Salinas did not use the gun during the arrest.

Salinas had been featured as the Dispatch’s no. 1 Most Wanted for many weeks.

He was arrested about 3:30 p.m. on his outstanding warrants and for being a felon in possession of a firearm and for resisting arrest. Isais was arrested for resisting arrest as well as on a warrant for driving without a license.
