Diana T. Woollons

Diana Woollons died on Christmas Eve morning. Diana was born Diana Jozef Theresia Maria Wauters in Courtrai, Belgium, and lived as a teenager under Nazi occupation, while several of her family members were sent to work camps in Germany. In 1947, she married Sidney L. Woollons, who had already embarked on a career in the United States Foreign Service, eventually rising to the level of Consul General. While ably serving her husband as “Konsulina”, Diana lived in Belgium, Austria, Canada, Sweden, Germany, Washington D.C., and the island of Barbados.

Diana retired with her husband to Morgan Hill in l977, after leaving their last posting in the Foreign Service. Diana was active in the Women’s Golf Club in Gilroy and at the Santa Theresa Golf Club.

She is survived by her husband, Sidney L. Woollons, of Morgan Hill, her daughters and their spouses, Christine Woollons of San Jose, Sandy and Brad Laue of Morgan Hill, and Suzan and Jeff Blackden of Morgan Hill. She is remembered by many others whose lives she touched.

A Memorial Celebration is currently being planned for late January at the Gilroy Golf Course.
