Garcia Not to Blame for Eagles’ Loss
CALLER 1: One thing to keep in mind about the New Orleans game – Westbrook dropped four passes, one of the receivers dropped another, and Baskett’s catch was called back because of the penalty. His rating would have been much higher otherwise. Garcia played a heck of a game and Reid’s call ended any chance of a miracle finish. Andy Reid always goes conservative at some point. Bad trait but he’s still a good coach. I look for Garcia to wind up in Minnesota.
GREEN PHONE: Always nice to hear from a reader who is able to view an event with eyes wide open. Your assessment of Garcia’s progress is right on target. As for his next home address, not sure where you got your information on Garcia. But obviously he would be a good fit for the Vikings or any number of teams.
CALLER 2: I would like to let you know that I am very pleased with the way you and your peers are covering the local high school sports. I used to coach at Gilroy High (varsity boys basketball, Bud took over for me.) I know how important and exciting it is for the student-athletes to view their progress in the local papers. You also seem to have a good angle on the ins and outs of the games itself and your writing exudes the attitude that you really care about each and every outcome. Thank you for your continued support of our local sports. Keep up the great work!
GREEN PHONE: Thanks, coach. Some positive words are always appreciated. You’re right. Watching the Mustang athletes in all sports is great fun.
CALLER 2: I’m calling in regards to the Warriors game Friday night (Jan. 12) where right at the beginning the player was hurt, couldn’t walk. They took him to the sidelines. And then, one of his teammates, only, carried him literally to the X-ray room. Here is a professional team and stadium. Why was there not a wheelchair available. Football and soccer teams have their carts. I think they should have a wheelchair for both teams.
GREEN PHONE: When Mickael Pietrus sprained his left ankle during the game, he was helped off after a couple minutes by teammate Adonal Foyle. Professional basketball teams do have some of the same equipment as do their counterparts in other sports. Often if a player can and the injury is not too severe, he will try to get off the court on his own. Some of it is ego. Often if a player can and the injury is not too severe, he will try to get off the court on his own. Some of it is ego. Also, in the confinement of an arena it is often easier to be carried off rather than have equipment be brought out in the limited space. On fields there is a lot more space.
