Stacy Garcia, left, and Nichole Osaki, both from Gilroy, dance to the live music as they make chocolate waffles at the Living Legacies Diner relay booth to raise money Saturday during the Relay For Life event at Christmas Hill Park.

Gilroy Relay For Life organizers have lined up 24 hours of fun for all ages, as the around-the-clock cancer awareness fundraising event comes to Christmas Hill Park in Gilroy this weekend.
Aztec Dancers will kick off this year’s Relay For Life festivities beginning Saturday at 9 a.m., as hundreds of participants prepare to take the first leg of many laps around the circuit starting at 10 a.m.
Even if you’re not participating in the walk, organizers want supporters to come out and bring their families with them because they’ve got tons of entertainment lined up for all ages, including several musical acts, a DJ, a watermelon eating contest, a hula hoop contest, a pair of Gilroy’s Got Talent contests and a luminaria ceremony.
There will also be a kids T-shirt coloring camp, arts and crafts for all ages, a jumphouse, rock climbing wall, dunk tank, a caricature artist and much more.
Participants, who must have at least one member of the team walking at all times from 10 a.m. Saturday morning until 10 a.m. Sunday morning, will have fun with themes for each lap as well, including a Crazy Hat lap, Don’t Drop the Water Balloon lap, Be a Super Hero lap, Favorite blankie lap and a Tutu lap.
