Cal Fire is doing a control burn in Salinas that can be seen from the San Martin Avenue overpass in Gilroy.

Calfire announced a prescribed burn is scheduled for Sunday in San Benito County and that its smoke will be visible throughout the region, according to a statement from the state agency.
That prescribed burn is planned for Sunday on private in the Gabilan Range south of Hollister and west of Paicines, according to Calfire. Plans could change depending on weather conditions, according to Calfire, which is communicating with the National Weather Service about the matter.
Smoke from this controlled burn will be visible from San Benito County, Santa Clara Valley and the Salinas Valley, according to the state.
