Student tries to get high in class

Union 76 robbery
On Oct. 25 at 11:29 p.m., the Union 76 gas station at 601 Leavesley Road was robbed after an unknown male entered the store and demanded the cashier fork out money from the cash register. According to Espinoza, the attendant opened the register out of fear and gave the suspect, described as a Hispanic male between 30 and 40 with dark brown hair, no facial hair or visible scars or tattoos, an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect, who did not brandish a weapon, then fled on foot and is still at large.
Espinoza said the same gas station was robbed again Thursday, explaining the location “is pretty concealed from public view with easy escape routes to and from the area.”
Night club assault
A male victim was leaving the Rio Nilo night club at 7466 Monterey St. Oct. 25 at roughly 1:30 a.m. when eight male subjects knocked the subject to the ground, kicking and punching the victim in the face. The unknown subjects, described by witnesses as “gangster-looking Hispanic males,” fled the scene and are still at large, according to GPD Sgt. Pedro Espinoza.
Paraphernalia; an outstanding warrant; and 27 grams of meth
Fernando Salgado, 23, was arrested Wednesday at 3:09 p.m. near the intersection of West Luchessa Avenue and Monterey Street for possession of approximately 26.7 grams of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, a probation violation and an outstanding arrest warrant for domestic battery. An ounce of meth, which is 28.5 grams, goes for about $800 to $900, according to Espinoza. After the drugs have been cut, he said, peddlers “can make a lot more than that.”
Packaging meth for sale
On Oct. 31 at 1:53 a.m., GPD responded to the 800 block of Guaranty Way after receiving reports of suspicious subjects in the area. Upon arrival, police contacted 28-year-old Moises Torres, of Gilroy, who was found inside his RV with close to an ounce of methamphetamine, scales and other packaging paraphernalia, according to Espinoza. Torres, who was on probation at the time of his arrest, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sale, after units conducted a search of his RV as part of his probation terms. Torres was also arrested for a probation violation.
