Beer

It’s been a week for beer and electronics theft for the Gilroy Police Department.
Brewskie bust
When the sun beats down in the South Santa Clara Valley, there aren’t many things that can slake a thirst quite like a cold beer. Whether 37-year-old Raul Lara Castaneda was sun-addled or just short of some disposable income on July 23, his attempt to lift a $3.19 ice-cold can of Coors beer from the fridge of a store on First Street was harshly interrupted by the GPD, who cited him for shoplifting.
So near to beer
The afternoon of July 24 saw yet another failed beer robbery, this time at the other end of the city on 10th Street. GPD hasn’t released the name of the person who attempted to make off with two 30-packs of Bud Light, because the suspect didn’t hang around for introductions after the store’s loss prevention officers intervened. Police are now on the lookout for the black, 1997 GMC the suspect reportedly made off in.
Shack attack
Someone waltzed into RadioShack on E. 10th Street, helped themselves to $180 worth of electronic parts and then sashayed back out without bothering to check in with the cashier at 8 p.m. July 24. But what will this mastermind of electronics do with a GSM shield, ultimate controller pack and a motor pack? Police are still on the hunt for the suspect.
