Gilroy – Two people were injured in unrelated single vehicle crashes over the weekend, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Hollister resident Sara J. Lomanto, 19, was driving a 1999 Dodge on Highway 25 south of Hollister about 3:20pm Saturday. On a right-hand curve in the road, she veered onto the shoulder, striking two mile-post markers and a drainage culvert. Lomanto tried to regain control of the vehicle, but made an unsafe turning movement and rolled several times.
Her vehicle came to rest blocking the southbound lanes of the highway, the CHP said. She was flown by CALSTAR to Stanford University Medical Center, where she was treated for a laceration to the head and released.
Lomanto’s seat belt saved her from more serious injuries, officer Matt Ramirez said.
While a tow truck righted the vehicle and cleared the area, CHP officers kept traffic on the highway moving.
San Jose resident Christopher Timm, 21, suffered moderate injuries Sunday when he was ejected from his 1986 Honda motorcycle. Timm was rounding a left-hand curve on Uvas Road, just north of Little Uvas Road, and allowed his vehicle to drift off the west edge of the road, onto a gravel shoulder.
The motorcycle fell onto its side, ejecting Timm. He sustained abrasions to his left ankle, hip and shoulder area and was taken to Stanford for treatment.
