Dear Editor,
This morning I read about the

innocent

rape victim and the new information that has come out since the
story was first published. Seriously when does it go from being
rape to just being plain stupid.
I’m sorry I shouldn’t call the poor girl stupid. Maybe her
parents never taught her not to talk to strangers or that drugs are
bad, but if she is making out with other females for drugs and then
returning to the men who raped her is she really all that

innocent

? You would think that if you get raped once you would not
return for more (I do not know of ANYONE who would return to put
themselves back in that situation) but yet she did, and that is
when she should also be looked at as not a victim but someone who
is in SEVERE need of help!
‘Innocent’ 13-year-old alleged rape victim needs ‘boot camp’

Dear Editor,

This morning I read about the “innocent” rape victim and the new information that has come out since the story was first published. Seriously when does it go from being rape to just being plain stupid.

I’m sorry I shouldn’t call the poor girl stupid. Maybe her parents never taught her not to talk to strangers or that drugs are bad, but if she is making out with other females for drugs and then returning to the men who raped her is she really all that “innocent”? You would think that if you get raped once you would not return for more (I do not know of ANYONE who would return to put themselves back in that situation) but yet she did, and that is when she should also be looked at as not a victim but someone who is in SEVERE need of help!

Yes, the men should be punished for what they did to her, but maybe we should also be punishing the “innocent” girl as well!

No 13-year-old should be gallivanting around town in search of drugs and hanging around homeless men and then blaming them for raping her. Perhaps some time in a juvenile detention center or some sort of boot camp program would be good for her before anything worse happens. Just imagine if she has a child in a year! She is just a child as well and without the proper guidance we could be reading about the same thing happening to her child in the future.

‘Are we mad?’ Taxpayer subsidies for bullet train will be enormous

Dear Editor,

How much money will every small business owner in downtown Gilroy and Morgan Hill have to pay to subsidize the bullet train? Thousands? Tens of thousands? Annually more than they would get from tourist dollars? And the construction costs bond debts heaped on their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who get not a penny in return?

Did Karl Marx’s philosophy succeed? Why do our leaders think that they can make it work here?

How much are Amtrak taxpayers subsidizing for every person who rides the train? Multiply that by factors of 10 to get the coming bullet train subsidies to pay for annual billion dollar losses. Where will that money come from? Motorists gas taxes? Airline passenger fees?

Have we gone mad?

Too many details printed in the terrible story about alleged rape

Dear Editor,

Last night I read the article about the rape of the 13-year-old girl. For obvious reasons I didn’t feel very good after reading it, having a couple kids of about that age didn’t help.

After reading the article I wondered what possible good reason there was for printing that level of detail. What does it say about our culture if we want to hear that much personal information? What does it say about our local paper when they print it? These are details for the police and court manuscripts.

In my opinion you have added to the damage done to that girl by spreading the details to the whole town. Obviously, even though you didn’t print the 13-year-old’s name, hundreds of people must know who she is. So now she can be further shamed and humiliated.

I’m certainly glad my children didn’t read the paper (which they often do) before I saw it. I enjoy getting the Dispatch and have subscribed to it for most of the 20-plus years I have lived here but I am seriously considering canceling my subscription.
