â– No. There’s no guarantee that the county will be staffed sufficiently to assist the city. The county has serious budget deficits as well.
â– NO! They should contract for increased mutual aid and maybe decrease employees and at the very least reduce the number of personnel on a responding vehicle.
â– YES – the city cannot sustain the cost given the union’s unyielding position on wages and benefits and the requirement for binding arbitration. The unions are going to bankrupt Gilroy!
â– YES, this would be a big savings for Gilroy taxpayers.
â– Why not do a layoff? There are too many firefighters riding in the trucks.
