first half, the Gilroy High field hockey team went on a tear,
scoring four unanswered goals to defeat the Leigh Longhorns 4-1 on
Saturday in the quarterfinals of the Central Coast Section
playoffs.
SAN JOSE – After briefly falling behind 1-0 midway through the first half, the Gilroy High field hockey team went on a tear, scoring four unanswered goals to defeat the Leigh Longhorns 4-1 on Saturday in the quarterfinals of the Central Coast Section playoffs.

The No. 5-seed Mustangs face rival, and the tournament’s No. 1-seed, Los Gatos in the semifinals, 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at St. Francis in Mountain View.

The final-four showdown is a rematch of last year’s semis where the Wildcats eliminated the Mustangs from the postseason.
