Should the city approve a non-contiguous 349-home development
proposal for pre-manufactured homes in southeast Gilroy?
THIS WEEK’S WEB POLL:
Should the city approve a non-contiguous 349-home development proposal for pre-manufactured homes in southeast Gilroy?
No: 7 Yes: 4
â– No. Too many questions at this point.
â– Yes, I think the city needs the fees and it is senior housing. Plus it’s low income and it’s not really a trailer park but more a pre-built home style.
â– No, it will turn into a boondoggle of vacant properties.
â– No. That is a bad place for that development. Senior citizens need to be close to services that they need. Do in-fill in the city first. The old Las Animas School site is probably available.
â– No. Veiled threats of a lawsuit must not influence the Council. The city is in the process of updating its Housing Element (including an affordable housing ordinance). This is the proper instrument for
determining the city’s housing needs, not an out-of-town attorney!
â– Yes. After being presented the project it makes sense and will be an asset to Gilroy.
â– No, it’s too far from current development and will encourage sprawl.
