Residents can mail payments, along with the first installment stub, to the Tax Collector’s Office, 70 W. Hedding St., San Jose, CA 95110. The tax collector encourages taxpayers to mail early or obtain a proof of mailing receipt from the post office to avoid penalties. The U.S. postmark must be Friday or earlier.
Cash payments must be made in person at the County Government Center, 70 W. Hedding St., East Wing, Sixth Floor, San Jose. To pay taxes with a credit card or e-check, visit the Tax Collector’s Office website at www.scctax.org. A convenience fee is associated with either of these payment types and will be passed on to the taxpayer.
Property owners are responsible for the taxes even if they haven’t received a bill, according to the tax collector.
