Gilroy's Nic Aguilar works to flip his Clovis opponent during their semi final match at the CIF State Wrestling Finals in Bakersfield.

Gilroy’s Nic Aguilar took second at the CIF State Wrestling finals in the 106-pound weight class Saturday, representing one of four Mustang placers.
Aguilar joins Alex Felix (132), Noe Garcia (195) and Juan Villarreal (152) in placing in the top 7 at state.
Aguilar fell to Buchanan’s Matthew Olgui 11-4 after nearly getting pinned in the first round.
He went down 5-1 in the first round after being taken down in the first 20 seconds and was nearly pinned.
In the second round, Aguilar scored an escape to start the second, but in the final seconds, he was taken down and Olgui scored a near fall to take a 9-2 lead.
He got to the finals by pinning his first two opponents then winning in a 5-2 decision to qualify for the finals.
Aguilar then defeated Brandon Betancourt of Clovis by tech fall (16-1) to advance to the finals.
Meanwhile, Felix and Garcia both took fourth in their respective classes. Felix fell in the quarter finals and had to wrestle through three consolation matches to the third place match.
He lost to Kalani Tonge of Elk Grove in a 5-4 decision.
Garcia likewise fell in the quarters, but wrestled back to get to the third place match, where he fell 6-3 to Jake Wood of Newbury Park.
Villarreal made it to the semis, where his day ended. He fell to a 1-0 decision, but suffered a broken nose that forced him to withdraw and settle for sixth place.
