Top-seeded Christopher High defeated Watsonville 40-26 in the semifinals of the Monterey Bay League girls basketball postseason tournament on Thursday night, setting up a rubber match with Monte Vista Christian for the tournament title.

Game time is 6 p.m. tonight at Pajaro Valley High School in Watsonville.

The Cougars and Mustangs split the regular season series. The most recent installment  went the Cougars’ way 42-38 on Feb. 8, which clinched the MBL championship. The Mustangs defeated CHS 55-50 in overtime in the teams’ first enounter.

If CHS makes it two straight, they retain sole posession of the league crown. Should the Mustangs triumph, however, they two Central Coast Section playoff-bound squads will be co-champions.

MVC edged Seaside 40-39 to advance to the finals.
