Prep Roundup: Feb. 4

Christopher and North Salinas duked it out Tuesday, but neither could gain an edge. 
The Cougars and Vikings ended in a 1-1 draw at CHS, at each scoring in the second half. 
Brian Cuevas notched the lone goal for Christopher in the 35th minute. 
North Salinas’ Fabian Acosta scored for the Vikings off an assist from Javier Ruelas. 
Christopher (4-6-3 overall, 3-2-3 in league) will host Palma at 5:45 p.m. Thursday for it’s second to last home game of the regular season.
‘Catz blank Gilroy
Watsonville showed Gilroy why its undefeated and handed the Mustangs a 4-0 loss Tuesday in Watsonville. 
The Wildcatz scored two goals in each half, two of which came from Graham Foster. Collazo Estaban and Isac Murillo each added a goal for Watsonville. Murillo also had four assists, while Cesar Padilla had two. 
Gilroy (6-9 overall, 3-6 in league) will have some time to regroup before hosting Alvarez at 5:45 p.m. Jan. 10. It’s the Mustangs second to last home game of the regular season. 
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Vikings snap Cougars’ win streak
Christopher’s three-game winning streak came to an end Tuesday as it fell 64-26 to the league-leading North Salinas on the road. 
The Vikings jumped out to a 20-2 lead after the first quarter from which Christopher couldn’t recover. The Cougars posted 14 points in the second to trail 39-16 at the break, but were held to single digits in the final two quarters. 
Stats from this game weren’t yet available. 
Christopher (5-12 overall, 3-4 in league) will host Seaside at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Mustangs drop 9th straight
Gilroy’s struggles continued Tuesday as it dropped its ninth straight game. The Mustangs lost 41-31 at Seaside. 
Stats and scoring from this game were not yet available. 
Gilroy (7-13 overall, 0-8 in league) will play its second to last home game of the regular season at 7 p.m. Thursday against Monte Vista Christian.
