Out 2 Play completed an 8-0 season in the Co-Rec Fall Softball League by outlasting Team Rush 7-6 Sunday at Las Animas Veterans Park.
Team Rush, 6-2, rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh inning for a 6-6 tie. Graig Martinez tied the score with a two-out RBI-triple.
Ben Carrasco completed a 4-for-4 night by doubling to left to open the Out 2 Play seventh. Two batters later, Ernie Payan plated Carrasco with the winning run.
Joel Garcia went 3-for-3, Melissa Garcia lined a two-run single and Carrasco hit a two-run home run for Out 2 Play. Martinez went 3-for-4 and scored two Rush runs.
Out 2 Play opens Playoff Night Sunday at Las Animas by playing fourth-seed Hi-Energy Networks at 4 p.m. Guts & Glory, at 7-1 the second seed, hosts Team Rush at 5:10 p.m. The two winners play at 6:20 p.m. for the playoff title.
Anritsu earned two playoff wins Thursday to finish at 10-0 in the Men’s EE Fall Softball League at Las Animas.
Anritsu opened the series with a 21-1 nod over Gilroy Thunder. Dave Elston hit a homer, triple and double for the winners. Bill Gocke scored the Thunder run.
No Soup 4 You edged the Sweepers 17-16 with a two-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning. Consecutive singles by Sam Juarez, Fausto Padilla and Charlie Sanchez lifted the Soup into the playoff finals. John Castaneda homered for No Soup. Mitch Ponza went 4-for-4 and Jason Ramirez and Kriss Orre 4-for-5 for the Sweepers.
Anritsu turned back No Soup 4 You 10-7 behind a 3-for-3 showing by Elston. Anthony Lewis went 2-for-2 and Aaron Miller drove in two runs for the champions. Joaquin Zamarron homered and scored three runs for No Soup.
Trevino Brothers Construction earned two Men’s E League wins Thursday at Christmas Hill Park to claim the Playoff Night title. Trevino Brothers plays VFW Bingo Thursday at Las Animas at 7:40 p.m. for the championship T-shirts.
Ryan Mull scored four runs and Loren Walsh homered as Trevino Brothers defeated Burch Please 16-10. Joel Gaeta went 4-for-4 for the losers.
VFW Bingo opened Playoff Night with a 14-9 nod over God Squad. Josh Dias and Gary Tognetti each went 3-for-3 for Bingo. Abe Burcinega went 3-for-4 and scored three God Squad runs.
Mull hit a grand slam, Walsh a two-run shot as Trevino Brothers topped VFW Bingo 33-13 in the finale. Mike Catangay went 3-for-3 and Dias homered for CFW Bingo.
