Simon Reyes March 13, 1939 – December 24, 2011

Age 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family early Christmas Eve at the Reyes family home in Morgan Hill. He was born in Otis, New Mexico. He came to California as a child and grew up in Dinuba, CA.

After high school he joined the Marine Reserves and served while attending college and beginning his career with the State of California. He worked at the Dept. of Justice, Consumer Affairs and the Labor Commissioner’s Office where he retired as Assistant Chief Labor Commissioner after 34 years of service with the State.

He was well respected by his peers and was the rock of the family.
He touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Bobbie Reyes, and his children; sons Kevin Reyes and Eric Reyes and a daughter, Christina Reiman; as well as two grandchildren, Kodi Reyes and Mateo Reiman; a brother, Mike Reyes of Orosi, and three sisters: Eva Diaz of Visalia, Bessie Torres of Dinuba,and Minga Bustamante of Fresno and numerous nieces and nephews. Simon’s family was his greatest joy. He will always be remembered as the rock of “La Familia Reyes”.
  We are all grieving his loss but know that he is with the Lord now and in a much better place than here on earth.

A Rosary service was held at Dopkins Funeral Chapel on Thursday, December 29, 2011, in Dinuba, CA. The Funeral Mass was held at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Dinuba, CA on Friday, December 30, 2011. A Celebration of Life at St. Catherine’s Parish Hall followed graveside services at Smith Mountain Cemetery also in Dinuba.
