Game 2 is in the books for the Gilroy Little League Junior division softball All-Star team, getting by Utah 10-2 at the Western Regional on Friday night.

Gilroy started the tournament with a 15-0 win on Thursday night.

Adrianna Figone pitched the first three-plus innings, recording five strikeouts, and allowing three hits and one run.

Mackenzie Holt spelled Figone and kept runners off the base paths in her appearance. Holt gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked six and struck out six during her four innings of work.

Javlyn Weaver led Utah at the plate, going 1-for-4 with a home run.

A pitchers’ duel through the first three innings opened up in the fourth as Nicole Villanueva scored on Pati Soria’s single to center field. Utah countered with Weaver’s home run in the bottom of the fourth.

However, Gilroy distanced itself using a four spot in the fifth inning. Liezl Clark singled to left field, Alexis Conlon reached on error, Holt reached on a fielder’s choice, Cynthia Del Real singled and Michaela Decker singled to right field. The Gilroy All-Stars scored five more runs in the seventh on an error, two wild pitches and a two-run single by Clark.  Gilroy has a day off Saturday before continuing play Sunday at 5 p.m.
