Giants pitcher Matt Cain and Tigers hurler Justin Verlander will start Tuesday night’s Major League Baseball All-Star game in Kansas City.

Cain (9-3, 2.62 ERA) will lead the National League squad, which also features San Francisco’s Pablo Sandoval, Melky Cabrera and Buster Posey, who will all start as well.

Verlander (9-5, 2.58) will take the hill for the American League, which is skippered by Rangers manager Ron Washington.

Tony La Russa will step out of retirement to manage the National League.

National: 1. Carlos Gonzalez; 2. Melky Cabrera; 3. Ryan Braun; 4. Joey Votto; 5. Carlos Beltran; 6. Buster Posey; 7. Pablo Sandoval; 8. Dan Uggla; 9. Rafael Furcal.
