Three different players registered at least three goals as the Gilroy High field hockey team routed visiting North Salinas 15-0 in an early season nonleague engagement Tuesday.

Monica Marrazzo scored two minutes into the first half and that opened the floodgates.

The Mustangs, using fluid passing, found space well against the Vikings defenders and opened a 9-0 advantage by halftime.

Morgan Rogers and Lilybeth Mendoza, who was just brought up from junior varsity had three goals apiece, while Katrina Carter posted a game-high four goals. Esmeralda Gobea and Marrazzo finished with two, and Kiara Santamaria, Taylor Riewerts and Cassidy Andersen also had goals.

The Vikings are the two-time defending champs in the MTAL since Gilroy’s departure.
