Born July 20, 1959 in San Jose, she graduated from Live Oak High School in 1977 and earned her Bachelors Degree from University of California, Santa Cruz. She was awarded her Masters Degree from San Jose State University and practiced for more than 13 years as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Soquel. In her profession, she specialized in eating disorders; therapies involving individuals, couples, and groups. She has lived in the Santa Cruz area more than 20 years, and also had worked as massage therapist.

Mrs. Baker-Hetzer had a passion for horses and was an avid dressage student. She loved her registered Quarter Horse, Bailey, and worked hard at mastering the sport. She also was a familiar face in the recreational runner’s circles, often seen in Nisene Marks and on the local beaches. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories of her sense of beauty which she expressed in her garden, her dress and her home.

She is survived by her son, Malcolm Hetzer; mother, Marie Baker; brother, Dave Baker; and her partner, Bill Evans. She also leaves her brother-in-law, Earl Boggs, and her sister-in-law, Margaret Baker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mal Hetzer; her sister Janet; and her father, Richard.

Family and friends will celebrate her life, today at 610 Aptos Creek Road in Aptos, beginning at 1pm. The family requests donations be made to a trust fund established for her son at Comerica Bank, 30 Rancho Del Mar Shopping Center, Aptos, CA 95003.
