Feinstein: No on Roberts

Washington – U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., was one of five Democratic members of the Senate Judiciary Committee to vote against the nomination of John G. Roberts to be Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.

“I don’t ask for promises – especially as to how a nominee would rule in any case in the future,” Feinstein said.

U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer has also expressed disapproval of Roberts, and late last week, U.S. Representative Mike Honda, D-San Jose, who will not have a vote on the nomination, said that Judge Roberts possesses the indisputable intellect to sit on the highest court of this nation, but may “set the clock backwards” for civil rights and minority rights.
