Does the Mayor Have a Hidden Agenda With Regards to the Arts Center?
Dear Editor,
Has Mayor Al Pinheiro or Dispatch Staff Writer Serdar Tumgoren, paid ANY any attention to the plans and design of the arts center? After reading “BIG PLANS: Shop, eat, live” made me wonder.
The writer referred to the Arts Center as a “simple design of an arts center and a parking lot.” Then he reported Mayor Pinheiro “is floating” the idea of “tucking the center behind a string of businesses.” Does he mean to make the arts center look like a storefront or does he mean “hide” it? What is creative about either idea?
I think the writer should do his homework and Pinheiro should “sink” his idea. Ideas to downgrade the arts center near the train station when work is needed at the city center is puzzling. Is there a hidden agenda?

Really Enjoyed the Musical Christmas Performance by South Valley Symphony
Dear Editor,
I enjoyed listening to and watching the South Valley Symphony Orchestra and numerous gifted vocalists perform music selections from Handel’s ” Messiah” at the Advent Lutheran Church in Morgan Hill.
This experience is offered to everyone who loves to sing or just wants to listen to music of this special season the first Saturday in December each year. It’s a great idea to promote the fine arts and talent we have in the South Valley. Mark this event on your calendars for years to come.

Sorely Disappointed in Lack of Action on the San Martin Animal Shelter
Dear Editor,
I am sorely disappointed in Santa Clara County Supervisor Don Gage and County Executive Pete Kutras et al for their lack of action in regards to the desperately needed new animal shelter.
Remember this quote, “The purity of a persons heart can be quickly measured by how they regard animals.”

Refuse to Be ‘a Subject’ – Carrying a Knife is OK if the Blade is Legal
Dear Editor,
In several stories (such as one Oct. 24) the writer makes statements like, “a 16-year-old Gilroy male was cited on suspicion of possession of a knife.” There is no law against possessing a knife! (But give socialist Democrats a few more years in office and there may be.)
I want your readers to know that:
– folding-blade knives (that are one-side sharp and do not open with gravity) are legal and can be carried concealed in the pocket, and
– fixed-blade (non-folding), one-sided knives are legal and are to be carried in a sheath on the belt.
Remember, citizens know their rights and the law. Subjects do not. Refuse to be a subject.
