designated hitter this season.
Former Gilroy High baseball player Ben Hemeon, who now plays for West Valley, received second-team All-Coast Conference honors as a designated hitter this season. Hemeon, who played outfield for the Vikings, sported a .412 average, hitting seven doubles, two triples and two home runs during the season. The 2004 GHS grad ended his career as a Mustang by breaking the school’s single-season home run record his senior year. Hemeon hit eight home runs that season.
