Police probe incident at Garlic Farm Inn
GILROY
Police have completed a sketch of a person of interest in a month-old possible rape.
On Oct. 26, police received a phone call that a woman was in trouble at the Garlic Farm Inn in south Gilroy, Sgt. Jim Gillio said.
When police arrived on scene, they found a 30-year-old woman who had recently come out of unconsciousness and who appeared to be suicidal. Police transferred her to a welfare facility.
The next day, police received a phone call from another person who had spoken to the woman and said the woman might have been raped, Gillio said.
Police would not provide details of what, if any, evidence pointed toward rape or if the woman had been under the influence at the time.
The person said that the woman had blacked out and when she woke up again, she saw a man in the area, though police would not say where the man was, Gillio said.
The woman also had face-to-face conversations with the man around the inn prior to the possible assault.
Police then contacted the woman, who helped them create a sketch of the man. The woman described the man as Caucasian, about 5-foot-8-inches and 200 pounds with bad teeth. He was last seen wearing a baseball cap and military-style pants.
He was also carrying a dark backpack and a white hardhat.
“We are unsure if this is going to be a suspect or a witness,” Gillio said. “We’d like to talk to him about what he knows.”
