Department.
A 40-year-old Hollister man was shot and killed and another 34-year-old man was critically wounded Sunday night in the 800 block of South Street, according to the Hollister Police Department.

On Sunday at about 8:56 p.m., Hollister police officers were dispatched to the 800 block of South Street on a report of shots fired, with two victims on the ground. When they arrived, police found two men suffering from gunshot wounds, according to a statement from police.

Police pronounced Noel David Garcia, 40, of Hollister, dead at the scene from “at least one gunshot wound,” according to the announcement. It was Hollister’s fourth murder in 2011, according to police.

The second victim, Jose Martin Ureno, 34, was flown to a Bay Area hospital. He underwent emergency surgery and is on life support, according to police.

Witness descriptions were limited to the vehicles possibly involved – a tan pick-up truck, possibly a Chevy Silverado, and a white sedan. There is no further suspect information at this time, according to police.
