Hoey Ranch, the historic property located at 2480 Hecker Pass Rd., is gearing up for fall.
What many locals will recognize as the cheerful red barn (visible off Hecker Pass Highway, not far from Syngenta Flowers) is making the thematic switch from “summer at the barn” to “autumn at the barn.” The rustic structure has been in the family since 1854.
Seventh-generation owner Debbie Hoey is a local interior designer who sells “antiques, collectibles and good stuff” on Sundays out of the horse barn-turned-store. Adding to that inventory, now, are 24 different varieties of heirloom pumpkins, plus gourds and an assortment of fall-related items.
“This is my favorite time of year. I can’t wait for the pumpkins,” said Hoey, who described her crop as “really amazing pumpkins you don’t see just anywhere.”
Hoey estimated her heirloom pumpkins will range anywhere from $1 to $40 – but said the few steep prices would be for “something that’s pretty darn special,” such as “gorgeous, ‘Cinderella’ pumpkins, which are huge.”
Hoey Ranch is open “during winery hours,” from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sundays.
