A crash on U.S. 101 near Tennant Avenue involving two vehicles left a pedestrian with major injuries Thursday night.
A Honda Civic traveling southbound struck the back of a Chevy Silverado, which had been parked on the right shoulder, according to a report by the Department of California Highway Patrol.
After hitting the Chevy, the Honda and its driver, a 32 year-old female from Gilroy, continued moving forward and then crashed into a 50-year-old pedestrian from San Jose who was standing outside of the Chevy securing a load.
The man suffered major injuries, including a right lower leg fracture as well as lacerations to both knees and his head. He was flown to San Jose Regional Medical Center.
Three passengers from San Jose inside the Chevy included a 23-year-old man, a 3-year-old boy and a 57-year-old female with minor injuries. The driver, who suffered minor injuries, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. No names were immediately available.
