National Night Out was hosted by the Gilroy Police Department, City of Gilroy, South County Youth Task Force and other organizations on Aug. 1. The nationwide event allows public safety officials and the community to interact in a friendly environment and raise awareness about crime prevention. Various booths with games, crafts, demonstrations and other activities filled the pathways between the Gilroy City Hall and library, while police and fire personnel brought their equipment for the public to check out.
