Family: Husband, son, 2 grandsons

What’s outstanding about her: She has given many years to GUSD. She goes above and beyond to provide her students with field trips and memorable experiences. She offers support to new teachers. And, she started this year with a real positive attitude towards helping her students meet their academic goals and sharing ideas with the administrator about ways to do this.

What this teacher likes about her job: “Knowing that in some small way I have helped my students be successful. The reward of teaching is when I see the students that are struggling finally understand the concept and begin to feel good about themselves. I enjoy hearing from former students and how successful they are. What else? Enjoys crafts, camping and spending time with her family, especially her two grandsons.

What’s outstanding about him: When he started here in kindergarten, he was afraid of school. He cried. He didn’t want to eat. Now he loves school and he is very kind to others. When another student tripped over his shoe and fell this week, he helped him up, put on his shoe and then tied it for him. These are the kind acts that we want to reinforce. He is also a hard worker in class. Favorite subject: Coloring Hobbies: Basketball Plans for the future: He wants to be a painter.
