DEAR EDITOR:
After seeing the news on TV this morning that they had found the body of the 11-year-old girl in Sarasota Florida, I am really mad. This man who was seen abducting her, and let the authorities know where to find the body, has been arrested 13 times for sexual crimes, and was still running loose in their community. However in Florida, unlike California, he probably won’t live to kill again.
We, here in Gilroy, have more than 100 sexual offenders here in our community, and there is no way possible in finding where they live, or even what area that they live in. I went to the police department to see the files they have on the sexual offenders in Gilroy. I had 15 minutes to see names and pictures of all the 114 offenders that were living within our 95020 zip code, with an officer sitting down watching me the whole time. I was not allowed to make notes during this period or write down a person’s name who was pictured and listed.
We then go into the San Martin area, the Morgan Hill area, the Gilroy county area, the Hollister area and have many more of these dangerous criminals living among us, and really no protection from them. Many of these people seem to be normal people, and practice their sexual wants on children, and the killing of children. We have no way of knowing who these criminals are.
These records should be on the Internet on a state wide basis. Name, addresses, pictures, and crimes should be listed. In this way, anyone who has a computer at home could research the statewide lists, and others who have library cards could learn who they are and where they live, if they do not have computers at home.
We need elected officials who will bring these people out in the open, we need judges who will put these people away for good, and we need new laws from all these “clowns” we call senators and Congressman(women). We also need to finally tell the ACLU lawyers, that these convicted people do not have “rights”, and that there is no “cruel and unusual punishment” for these people.
Before we elect a president, member of Congress, senator, or any other elected official, let’s find out what they intend on doing to stop these criminals from living among us and molesting and killing our children and grandchildren.
