according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.
Three people accused of kidnapping two men and making them jump off the Hecker Pass bridge in October will face a jury trial, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.
The trial of Catrina Cameron, 22, Tamaya Duenas, 23, and Nathaniel Garcia, 22, is scheduled to begin April 25, according to Deputy District Attorney Steve Lowney.
All three are charged with attempted premeditated murder and kidnapping to commit robbery. The charges carry potential life sentences, Lowney said.
A pretrial discussion hearing is scheduled for March 24.
According to court documents, Cameron, Garcia and Duenas lured Jose Hernandez and Fernando Aguilar into Duenas’ apartment Oct. 25.
According to the Gilroy Police Department, the three defendants were waiting with guns and knives and stole the victims’ cell phones, jewelry and wallets. They then kidnapped the victims in Hernandez’s truck and forced the two to make cash withdrawals of $500 and $600 from ATMs, according to police.
The victims then were bound, blindfolded and driven to Sprig Lake off Hecker Pass Road in unincorporated Gilroy where they were pushed off the 15-foot bridge, according to police.
According to GPD Sgt. Chad Gallacinao, the victims’ injuries were not life-threatening and they were able to call police at 5:32 a.m. Oct. 25.
