Dear Editor,

In regard to Ms. Campeau’s letter which received the Golden Quill Award, I am reminded of Rudyard Kipling’s poem “If”. To paraphrase, “If you can bear to see the words you have written twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, and you can keep your poise, then son, you’ll be a MAN.”

In my letter I made no claim “homosexuals cause AIDS.” Her claim is a figment of her imagination. Ms. Campeau states “the fastest growing segment of those infected with HIV/AIDS is heterosexual women who have sexual contact with heterosexual men.” She conveniently neglected to note that this heterosexual spread of AIDS is primarily in black Africa where bizarre tribal customs force the widow to have sex with the dead man’s relatives as a “cleansing” act to ward off evil spirits. (See the article on this subject in the New York Times May 11, 2005)

There is no comparison of the black African heterosexual habits and that of homosexuals in the sex bars of San Francisco, California.

She claims my statistics on AIDS in 1983 are more than 20 years old and therefore not applicable to the year 2005. Funny, in 1983, 2 plus 2 made 4, and to the best of my knowledge, 2 plus 2 still makes 4.

The truth is that AIDS is a political disease. Many or all infectious diseases are controlled by quarantine and isolation; i.e. tuberculosis, diphtheria, small pox and SARS. The homosexual lobby had great political clout and was able to circumvent the application of standard medical procedures used in infectious disease control. This allowed unlimited spread of the disease throughout society.

Again through political influence more money has been spent by our government in the search for a cure for AIDS than money spent on cancer research.

In conclusion, I strongly suspect the point on the Golden Quill has been somewhat blunted, and maybe a new quill is needed.
