A private graveside service will be held at the Veterans Section of the San Juan Bautista, CA , District Cemetery.  Our beloved Gib died peacefully surrounded by his family. He was the eldest of five children, born to Alexander and Lillian Gibson in Atlantic City, NJ. Gib graduated from Pleasantville High School, NJ. He proudly served in WWII, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant, in the 5th Army Air Corps in New Guinea, Australia and the Philippines. Following his service he married Lillian Bankerd in 1946. Gib graduated from the University of California, Davis with a B.S. in Animal Science in 1953. After college he served as a Farm/4-H Youth Advisor and County Director with the University of California Cooperative Extension Service from 1956 until 1985 serving Merced, Stanislaus, and San Benito Counties. In 1993, he married Mary Lacey. Gib was passionate about whatever he did. He enjoyed his work with 4-H, helping thousands of children and their parents grow and prosper. With his positive outlook on life, his enthusiasm was contagious. His sense of humor and wit was legendary. Alex was always ready to lend a helping hand to his family, friends, and community. During his very full life, Gib loved travel, music, baseball, to create and build, was a square dance caller and avid sportsman. He loved reading, especially about history. He disliked fuss or formality, but always loved a good party with friends and family. Alex is loved and survived by his wife Mary, children James, Richard and Sue Gibson, daughters-in-law Kathy Gibson and Jeanne Daniels, sisters Cara Addison and Hazel Pfrommer, brother Albert Gibson, grandchildren Matthew, Daniel, Brian, Jeffrey and Scott, great-grandson Wiley, many nieces and nephews, his AFS son John Asante, his 4-H family and numerous friends.
