159347~No Day on the Green this year makes us blue—Dear
Editor,
We are writing in regards to the absence of a Day on the Green
this year. We understand that this is due to the lack of attendance
during CST testing.
During my tenure as Activity Director at Gilroy High, I came up with the concept and organized the original Day on the Green. While I sympathize with the feelings of the Class of 2005, I would like to answer your question regarding the tradition of this day. Day on the Green was created to celebrate the school year and the accomplishments of the entire student body. Things may have changed in recent years from the original format, but the intent of this day was not to celebrate the accomplishments of only one class. The day of celebration and fun was earned by the entire student body.
