Kevin Azcueta, Gilroy basketball
Azcueta posted 18 points for Gilroy in its 48-31 win over Pajaro Valley Jan. 9 in Watsonville. The victory is the Mustangs’ third of the season and their first in the Monterey Bay League-Pacific Division. He and teammate Connor Doyle were a combined 9 for 15 in 3-point attempts.

Katrina Diaz, Gavilan basketball
Diaz tallied 13 points and nabbed four steals for Gavilan in its 47-43 win over Hartnell Jan. 9 in Salinas. Diaz helped the Rams erase a seven-point halftime deficit for the victory. It was her team’s first Coast Conference win and it gives Gavilan a 6-10 overall record.
