Augustin P. ‘Augie’ Villalobos died suddenly Thursday, June 3,
2004 in Santa Barbara, where he was residing with his son.
He was 84.

He was 84.
A native of Texas, Mr. Villalobos worked for Purity’s Warehouse and Renz Construction before owning and operating Augie’s Restaurant for many years in downtown Gilroy. He was a Marine Veteran of World War II who served in The Asian Pacific Theatre, Ruckens Island, Okinawa and China.
He was a member of the Gilroy American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Sociedad Funeraria Mexicana de Gilroy, and a past member of the Elks. He was the recipient of his late brother Ramon’s kidney transplant. He also worked in the Police Reserves many years ago.
He is the husband of the late Mary Villalobos; the father of Art Navarro and his wife, Barbara of Santa Barbara, Mary Lou Yanez of Ventura, Gloria Gracia and her husband, Robert of San Jose, Vera Villalobos of Gilroy, and the late Armando ”Boy” Villalobos; the grandfather of Denise McMillan, Dorothy Binnebose, Eddie Navarro, Michael Navarro, Lisa Schaffer, Grossie Yanez, Annette Estrada, Steven Villalobos, Virgie Gracia, Robbie Gracia, John Tomasetti Jr., Eddie Tomasetti, Jimmy Tomasetti, Eric Tomasetti, Armando Villalobos Jr., Angela Villalobos, Anthony Villalobos, Cathy Villalobos, Michael Marquez and Fernando Villalobos; the great-grandfather of 54; the brother of Manuel Villalobos and his wife, Trini, Willie Villalobos and his wife Delva, Stanley Villalobos, and his wife, Armida of Gilroy, Ofelia Paredes of Gilroy, Carol Englebretson and her husband, Tom of Gilroy, Cipriana Martinez of Gilroy, Linda Kobashi and her husband, Richard of Gilroy, Alice Trinklien of San Jose, and the late Robert and Ramon Villalobos. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A vigil will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy.
Funeral services will begin at the funeral home Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. then proceed to St. Mary’s Church for Mass at 10 a.m.
Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Gilroy.
