After dismantling San Jose Academy 12-3 two days prior, Gilroy High badminton lost an 8-7 nailbiter to Pioneer Thursday.
The boys’ singles trio of Arthur Lee, Johnny Kuang and Fernando Arellano swept matches on both days while girls’ singles struggled in both meetings.
“It was a really close match,” Gilroy coach Sally Enriquez said of the Pioneer meeting. “I was really proud of all of the players. Girls singles, although they all lost, I saw tremendous improvement in all three girls.
“We will get them next time.”
